About Us

The Landcare Association of South Australia Inc. (LASA) is the peak advocacy and representative body for Landcare in South Australia.

Formed in 1999, we are an independent, non-government and not-for-profit community organisation dedicated to supporting and advocating for community Landcare and ecologically sustainable management in South Australia. In partnership with governments, non-government organisations (NGOs) and industry, LASA supports individual Landcarers, community groups, farmers and landholders to protect, restore and enhance South Australia’s biodiversity, landscapes and waterways.

We represent South Australian Landcarers at both national and state levels, ensuring federal and state support reaches grassroots Landcare in our state. We are a member of the National Landcare Network (NLN), alongside other State and Territory peak bodies. Our work is supported by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program and the SA Government’s Care for Landcare Program.

We are led by a passionate volunteer Management Committee and dedicated staff who manage day-to-day operations. We build the capacity and resilience of community Landcare and environmental groups across South Australia, provide financial and practical support - including grants, insurance, workshops, and project assistance - and advocate for Landcarers at state and national levels.

Our role is to:

  • Shape the Future: Support Aboriginal people, volunteer groups, landowners, and managers to improve the health of natural and working landscapes.
  • Connect & Share: Facilitate the exchange of ideas, skills, and resources between groups, individuals, and agencies.
  • Advocate: Represent the needs and aspirations of community Landcare to government, industry, and key stakeholders.
  • Strengthen & Support: Promote community Landcare and help groups and individuals build the capacity to take action in their landscapes.

We are working to reinvigorate Landcare in SA and welcome your involvement! Download a copy of the LASA Strategic Plan to see where we are going and how you can be a part of it.
